Description

Closely Attending & Intentionally Responding

Do infants, toddlers and two-year olds engage in mathematical thinking?

Children are born with mathematical instincts that help them make sense of the world. As these ideas develop in infants and toddlers, they prepare the ground for taking on specific mathematical thinking and problem-solving skills.  In this full day workshop we will explore Attribute and Comparison - two precursor math concepts, and how caregivers can use their everyday interactions to intentionally support infants, toddlers, and two year olds in the development of their awareness of the math that is all around them. The day will be broken into four 90-minute chunks with a 15-minute break in the morning, a 60-minute break mid-day, and a 15-minute break in the afternoon.
